I know that when it comes to purchasing products, especially for cleaning your home, there are a lot of choices out there. Sometimes it can be overwhelming to walk down the cleaning aisle of Target and try to figure out which product to get. Everyone has different reasons for choosing the products they bring into their homes. For me, I want to make sure I'm using quality products that do the job but are also safe for my family.

When I had Sophie 8 years ago, I started actually thinking about the cleaning products I was using. There's nothing like bringing a little baby home and suddenly being responsible for their well-being to get you to re-evaluate the ingredients you are choosing in your products. I started realizing that I didn't want the toxic chemical fumes of Clorox and Lysol around my baby. I also wanted to make sure those chemicals weren't on the surfaces she was going to be using and touching. I had always grown up with Lysol and didn't think twice about it. Of course, then I became a mom and my whole world changed.

These days, we are more aware of the harmful effects of chemicals. I also am a huge advocate for the environment. I started looking up some of the ingredients in the cleaners I was using and was appalled at what I was reading about them. I try not to sway too far one way or the other; I don't want to be the tree-hugger who lives in the woods and doesn't buy anything I don't make myself. But I also don't want to be the person who buys whatever is cheapest without thinking about any harmful effects it may have on me or my family. And so I strive to be in the middle. I wanted products I could easily buy at Target but were also not as toxic or harmful.

Doing my research, I came across Seventh Generation. I was first amazed that they were readily available at my local Target and that the price was extremely affordable. I scanned the ingredients and loved that they were plant based. After trying out their Dish Liquid and loving it (hey, it works just as great as Dawn!), I decided to research more about the company. I soon became well versed in their mission and what they were doing for the environment. I loved that they took an environmental stand on issues and truly wanted to make the world a better and safer place. I loved that they are continually innovating their packaging techniques so that not only are they one of the leaders in using post consumer-recycled plastics, but also they are innovating ways to use less plastic in general. The basis of their company is to keep the Earth clean and safe for the next 7 generations. This is an idea I could totally get behind.

After my initial trial of their Dish Liquid, I started purchasing all their products. I found that everything I tried was reliable and worked well. My daughters loved their diapers ,and even though they have been out of diapers for a few years now, we are still using Seventh Generation Wipes to clean faces and hands. Their products make me feel good about the purchasing choices I am making and I feel safe knowing that the way they formulate their products is with care and safe ingredients.
