So ya'll know by now that I'm a huge fan of the Seventh Generation brand. I've recounted to you before about how I got into organic products (read this post to learn more), so you know a bit about how I started to choose safe products for my family and home. If you remember, I'm a part of their #GenerationGood community. If you click here, you can join this free community where you gain points by answering questions or completing challenges. These challenges are often receiving free products from Seventh Generation that you can try and then pass on.
I recently took part in their Free and Clear detergent challenge, where they sent me two two-packs of Free and Clear laundry detergent pods to test out. I was super excited about this because both my little girls have sensitive skin. Sophie started developing eczema at 3 months old. It was super hard to control when she was younger and it wasn't until she was 2 years old that it started to disappear. Now we deal with flare ups usually when the seasons change or if she comes into contact with an irritant, like scents or grass/pollen. Nora has a different skin issue; she has Pilaris Keratosis on her cheeks and on the backs of her arms (something she inherited from her daddy). Another more common name for this condition is "chicken skin". It causes a bunch of rough, small, red bumps around the hair follicles in the areas I described above. It doesn't bother her at all, but can be flared up by the same irritants as Sophie that I described above. So we have a whole house full of sensitive skin amazing-ness...!

It goes without saying that I was incredibly stoked when I got the mail on Monday and my free samples arrived! I received two packs containing two free and clear laundry detergent pods, as well as a $2 off coupon to buy more. The coupon super excited me because I'm an avid Target shopper and with the Target Cartwheel App, Seventh Generation products are always offered at a discount, and you can combine paper coupons with the Cartwheel App coupons/discounts...sweet! Not to mention I'm a Target Red Card member and get 5% off purchases as well...so it adds up.
Since there is always laundry ready to wash, (seriously, do dirty clothes piles ever end?? Or is it just my house??) I was able to scoop up some of my girls dirty things and try out a load right away. I needed to wash their bedding and I figured this would be a fantastic testing item to do first, since their skin is covered with these blankets all night.

I followed the instructions on the packets and dropped a pod in first, then let the washer fill with water while I grabbed their sheets. Once the pod had disintegrated and the washer had a decent amount of sudsy water, I dropped in their bedding. I loved how easy it was to just drop a pod in and not have to measure out any liquids...pretty time saving! As moms, we know every second counts in time management! The load of sheets was washed and dried without a hitch and I assembled their bed for the big test.
They've slept in those newly washed sheets for 3 nights now, and have had no reactions to the detergent at all! Looks like Seventh Generation hits a home run for our home again!
What I like about Seventh Generation Free and Clear Laundry Detergent Pods:
Free of fragrance, dyes, and artificial brighteners
Saves time being able to just plop a pod in and not measure out anything
Less messy
Gentle enough for babies
No adverse skin reactions in my sensitive kids' skin
What I dislike about Seventh Generation Free and Clear Laundry Detergent Pods:
It's pricier than the brand I usually buy, so I will wait until the Target cartwheel app has a coupon on them and then stock up ;)
My husband and I don't have skin allergies and sometimes I just like a fresh scent on our sheets/blankets
Overall I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product. Make sure to stop by your local Target to grab your own bag, or go here to buy online.
